Default Two horse wagon almost finished

Just had to share this..This is a 2 horse wagon that was bought new in the local gin and fertilizer company and spent all it's life about 2 miles from where I now live. The old farmer let me take it as long as I promised to fix it up and let him come see it. First picture is the wagon just after I brought it home in 2003. I took it apart and stored it in the rafters of the shop until last winter when I started restoring, well actually rebuilding it. Besides the wheels, the only original part on it is the rear axle. My brother-in-law helped me cut a new front axle (I'm not patient enough for that kind of precision) and I remade all the other running gear wood from the old pieces as patterns. The bed had been rebuilt and fixed many times over the years and I had to go by pictures I found online of other Owensboro wagons. Anyway, I'm going to pull it behind my 1953 Massey Harris corn snapper to catch the corn for the mill.

Great job! That looks fantastic. What did you put on the wood to make it glossy and weather resistant?

Minwax "early American" stain and 2 coats of Helmsman spar polyurethane. I've still got to make the bed stakes for the sides along with the stake pockets they slide into and I've got to build a new tongue.
