Question Wards Twin Row Tractor Info.

Hi Everyone,

We are in the process of sandblasting and painting a "Wards Twin Row" tractor for a client.

We do not know much about the tractor and our biggest issue at this point is " the color of red" it is supposed to be.

Another thing, it would seem, that there should be an "emblem" on the front of the grille.( missing)

Any information, links, or pictures of this tractor would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance. "DJ"

If I'm reading my scribbled notes correctly, the General was built by Cletrac (Cleveland Tractor Co), which built tracked tractors.
When Cletrac sold the tracked lines to Oliver, the little General went to BF Avery, who sold it as their model "A' and as the Montgomery Ward Twin Row.
Wards had another tractor, Chrysler powered, from a different source.
You may get your info (if you don't already have it) from the Avery owners club or by posting on Cletrac.org. Good luck.

Hi Bud,

Thank you for the infomation. I did find some information in the Avery Club website and copied it for reference.

It seemed to me that the Wards looked like an Avery to me, when I first saw it... No wonder !!

Thanks again.. I appreciate your response. Take care, " DJ"

I thought I woud share some of the information I found:

The Wards Twin Row Tractor color is " Avery's Tar-Tar Red"

The Ward's Twin Row is actually a "General Model GG " sold by Montgomery Ward from 1940- to 1942 as the "Wards Twin Row"

Bud,

I have a Wards Twin Row. When I restored mine, I found the original emblem that is painted on the nose of the hood. As far as I know, there is no actual emblem mounted on these tractors. During the restoration, I matched up the paint to be almost identical to the Classic John Deere Red- which is the paint that I used. I tried to attach a picture of mine, but it won't upload. I do not have the emblem painted on the hood, but I probably could help you if you send me your email address. You can reach me at
nlmarsh730diesel@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Nick
