Default My trucks

I just stumbled across this site while looking for information about the Rice County Steam and Gas Show. After a few hours on the site I figured that I'd probably be coming back often and as I always like showing off my trucks thought I'd post a couple of pictures.

I hope to add a Diamond T 201 and a Dodge M37 to the fleet in the future.

Nice looking rigs! Both are on my list of good looking trucks... always wanted one of those old Fords. Have a 51 F-6 that I hope someday will be my tractor and engine hauler.

Thanks.

The Dodge has a flathead 230 cui six and the Ford an OHV 8 232 cui i believe.

I'm looking for some small parts ie knobs, door handles, etc if anyone might know where I can find decent originals.

Also I get a little 'maple syrup' smell from the Dodge when it's first started. It seems to go away after it warms up and I haven't noticed white exhaust, antifreeze in the oil or low coolant levels so should I worry about it? Could it be a marginal head gasket?

For the Ford, you might find some parts sources on the message boards over at ford-trucks.com I know that Dennis Carpenter is a company that has lots of Ford parts, but I don't know for sure what they have.

For the Dodge, there might be a board over at allpar.com

That Power Wagon is a beauty I passed one up about 2 years ago and I'm still kicking myself everytime I see one.For parts, try www.vintagepowerwagons.com/,they claim they just got a couple containers full of parts, they also make and sell repro parts.

Now that's a nice truck!

If I could choose any Ford truck it'd be a '51 or '52. I really liked the first F series body style but didn't care much for the grills until '51. I've had my eye on a late 40s F-6 at a small airport in northern Minnesota for a couple of years now and often thought about asking if it might be for sale but I'm afraid that they might say yes.

I'm also hoping to find a 69 Ford 3/4 ton 4x4 when I replace my daily driver next spring/summer.

Close. The truck that I'm thinking of is at a little air field just outside of Pine River. Between Pine River and Chickamaw (sp?) Beach but, I wouldn't doubt that there'd be something similar in Backus.

I have a picture somewhere. If I can dig it up I'll post it.

Yeah. I really fell in love with that truck. Compared to it driving the Ford is like driving a Toyota. Non-synchro gearbox, 1 ton suspension and over 5000 lbs curb weight. It really drives like a truck.

The Ford gets a lot of waves and thumbs up from people but the Dodge draws stares and I swear that some guys even take their hats off when it goes by.

My problem is,I don't care for the military trucks,I'd rather a WDX but around here there aren't many. Most of what I see, that are in decent condition are out west and they aren't getting any cheaper either.
