Just thought I would bring this up to the front for those of you looking for a nice show with lots of things going on. It is a chance to see some rare traction engines as well as some good sawmill action along with a number of engines belted up to various types of threshing machines.

Hope to see you there.

Thanks John!
I just got home from there after helping get things ready. I think we washed and lined up at least 12 full size Steam Traction Engines and 3 or 4 scales! They did some fine tuning on the sawmill and that is running great. I had heard there is a record amount of racks of grain to thresh this year also!
It's going to be a great weekend... Hope to see some Stakers there!
Thanks
Eric

Glad to hear everyone is coming. Weather looks to be about perfect for next weekend. I think we will have 12-14 full size and at least 6 scale engines and they will all be running different equipment most of the day.

Rob, I bet we even have some stuff for that Johnson tractor to run.

See you this weekend.

Sure wish I was going down to the show. I had planned earlier that I would try and make it this year, but with all the 3rd cutting laying down, it will be ready for baling from Fri. thru Sunday. Besides I have to much stuff going on right now anyway.

You guys have one on me, and say hi to the guys

nrffarmboy,

I believe that is a 25hp Illinois and belongs to Ron Holland. I believe it has been a few years since it has run...glad to hear she will be out and running this year. It should be a good show. The weather sounds like it is going to cooperate and a lot of fun activities have been planned for this years show.

Dave, if you can sneak out of the field for awhile, it would be nice to visit with you again. I enjoyed getting to meet you at LeSueur a few weeks back now. But I can surely understand the importance of taking care of business at home.

All,

I was just on Heritage Park's website and their live webcams while visiting with Eric Bolduc and Dalene Deck on the phone...not quite like being there, but not bad either. Dalene and Eric are steaming up Jerred Ruble's 18hp Avery to get it ready to either put in the sawmill or go out threshing for the local little school kiddies. Man, I should be there instead of sitting in the office right now. The rest of the day is really going to drag for me now. But I will be there sometime this evening and am looking forward to a fun filled weekend. It will be nice to catch up with Deck's and others at the show this weekend...not to mention drooling over Jerred's 40hp Gaar!...again.

I would missed the show this year. I have a lot of work to do with new housing project.
Jerred Ruble said next year will be featuring National Scale Model !! Ditto! I will go next year.
I ran Jerred's 18 hp Greyhound twice. Should be there to hook up Greyhound thresher.
Heritage park has a LIVE web cam. Go to their website and watch the live cam during the parade between 4-5pm. I don't know if cam in another time.
hey folks have a great time and drive safely home.

Hey Stakkers,
Just a reminder there is a LIVE web cam now in active anytime. There are three of them upper view active #1-3. # 4-6 may appear special time cam especially during parade at 4-5 pm. Jerred said parade may begin approximately at that time when cam turned on.
Cam # 3 is installed on church roof to view large building and a 40 hp Gaar Scott.
Your active connections maybe best with high speed internet. I am not sure it will do well with dial up.
Go to www.heritageparkofnorthiowa.com and click over by sponsor Pepsi type user and password as shown on list
user ID1 password 1234 Jerred made this site so everyone can see this.

I would like to say thank you to all the fine folk I met at Heritage park Iowa, This show should be a "Don't miss" on everybody calendar, If you have not seen it, be there next year,, truly amazing collection of very unique items, I especially liked the 24 hp Minne twin simple engine, what a beauty, There is always something going on around the site, I got to stand on the 16 bottom behind the 110, that's a first for me, Also great to meet stacker's and put faces to names, That now makes 2 shows I wont be missing next year, White Pines in McGrath and Forest city Iowa,

roll on 2009!

Dan,

I'm glad to hear you had a good time at the show. It was nice seeing and visiting with you and your brother. As always, it seems like I don't have enough time to really visit with everyone. As others have said, there were lots going on. The big engines were all doing something during most of the day...although I didn't get to see too much of that. I was busy with Jim Evans and Monte Topp with the scales and the scale engineers. We had eight scale models at this years show. There was the 1/2 scale 40hp Avery, 1/2 scale Wood Brothers, 1/3 scale Minneapolis, 1/2 scale freelance Case, 1/2 scale Terning 65hp Case, 1/2 scale 25hp GaarScott, 1/2 scale Huber, and a 1/8 scale 65hp Case steamer with accompanied scale Case baler...and unfinished thresher. I hope to have photos of these engines on here soon.

Besides the scale plowing with Glen Braun's 1/2 scale 6-bottom Rumely gang plow, the other models were busy powering a buzz saw, a couple corn shellers, corn grind mill, prony brake, and baker fan...not sure if I missed what else was being powered or not. It was a fun but tiring two days...trying to keep up with those younger engineers will wear a fella out. But they, the boys, seemed to have a great time!

On a side note...since it is both Nicholas's and Jim Evans birthday today, we had a birthday cookie for Jim, Nicholas, and Monte Topp...Monte's is this coming weekend. I regaled them by leading others in singing happy birthday...I believe I saw cats running for the hills when I hit those high notes.

All and all it was a great show and seems to be one of those best well kept secrets....one we'd like to share with others. If you haven't taken in the Forrest City show in the past, you sure should take one in in the near future. Like Greysteam24hp said, next year Forrest City is hosting the 2nd Annual National Scale Modelers show. It should be a great time. We are looking to add more equipment for the modelers to run. I'll leave the planning of that in the capable hands of Jim Evans.

Anyway, it was a great weekend and it was nice seeing everyone. The barn dance on Saturday night was a real treat. Especially when Jerred Ruble got up and played the fiddle...or was it a violin. Don't really know the difference, regardless, he played it well and I enjoyed listening to him and the family he played with play. The family, I hope someone can help me out with their name, but it was a mom and pop and daughter configuration. Besides being excellent musicians, the father of the group could and did play a singing saw. Now if you haven't heard a saw sing, well, that is unique to say the least. I was utterly impressed. I have some video of one of his songs and I hope to get that on here soon. And besides being a great musician, he is an excellent wood carver. He hand carved the front covers on his guitar and banjo cases. He also hand carved a lions head on his wife’s cello.

Once again, it is definitely a show to take in. Lot's to see and do. So come join the fun next year, it will be a "must to see" show.

Lawrence
