I was wondering what make this steam engine is?Also what kind of stopper would work for this?I think it would have to work as a safety also.

I believe that is a chimney and should not be plugged. The tube from the back of the cylinder is for exaust I think.

It may be an Indx (sp) but just a guess.
Alan

I believe that opening you have is for a chimney, and should not be plugged. Is that also the water fill?

I have the same one. It too has the hole where the chimney is. I was told it was the fill hole and thought you removed the whistle. Anyway when you heat it steam escapes through it. Thought about a plug but not sure if a good idea as their is no safety valve? Heats in an instant. Otherwise no one has been able to I.D. the maker. Thanks for the INDX name.

I think a plumb bob shaped valve sits down in the stack and on top of the hole providing a safety. I think you will find the motor will not run until that is in place. If you make one it should be heavy enough to to build pressure. I would make one from brass as steel will rust.

Thank you so much for the I.D. as an Watt engine. A lot of people look at mine at the tractor show. We did the NIHPA show in Indiana last weekend. The weather was great. Added another mini oscillating engine to my collection.
