Hi,
I believe this a belt-driven air compressor...project started apparently, but not finished. There are no mfg. marks on the unit; however, there is a faded mark on the brass fitting with the wooden knob. I think this brass piece is a pressure release valve, and the worn name reads ????-HAMLIN. It is in good shape, piston ring seems good although a bushing for the intake valve needs to be crafted. Any suggestions on Maker, approximate Age, and likely Purpose (due to sm. size perhaps it powered an early paint gun or dentist equipmnt?) are appreciated. |

I think its a model steam engine actually not a compressor.

That's a little Steam engine. Not a air compressor. It could run on air

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm embarrassed at my 1-dimensional thinking. It does look an awful like a Sipp engine, as suggested.
There is a Sipp on youtube powering a small organ: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoGJPlWO6rE Thanks again - now I'll be looking for Sipp resources. |
