Ok it's time to ask for help.
I have had ferrousitous for many years now. This spring "08" the disease finally got directed at antique engines. So here I was on Harrys every day for hours learing as much as I could and trying not to buy engines willy nilly. Well there was one add that got stuck in my head and the search engine must not go back that far for ad's. Here is what my memory recalls. The ad was for a 5-6 HP engine, it was dark green in color and the Model refered to was a "Thor". Here is where it get's fuzzier. I believe the seller was in Vermont, and reffered to the Manufacturer as "Saxon". The BYB reffers Saxon to a large engine retailer in Boston Ma. "Brackett, Shaw and Lunt". Pictured is a Hercules with the name Saxon on it. After hours of looking thru the BYB the best I can find to fit thelook from my fuzzy memory is a Stover style K or W. So could Saxon be BS+L,'s Brand name and Thor was thier line of Stovers?????? Oh yes I have bought 5 engines to date. |

Saxon was one of Brackett, Shaw & Lunt's "house" names. I have seen Stover K's, small Hercules & larger Field-Brundage engines tagged as Saxon.
I vaguely recall the ad but my memory is probably fuzzier thans yours .... I'm thinking that it was a Field-Brundage engine but it may have been a Stover. I don't think it was a Hercules. |

Welcome to the end of all floor space in your shop!
You have excellent taste in engines.. There are many photos on the PNFBA site linked below, Fields, and Field Built Sattleys. Some of the Wolverines, Type W, and the Sattleys are quite similar, might expand your search. James
