By the color (?) it might have been sold as a Rock Island. Still a 3 1/2 HP Alamo. Al Wait

Alamo 3 hp. If you can resurrect the number stamped on the flat boss at about 12 o'clock on the cylinder head, that is a clue to the year if the head is its factory original.

The head could have been changed out, though, in which case the stamped number would indicate the year of the engine it came on. Also, sometimes there is no stamped date on the boss. I have a head like that and I think this head may have been a replacement part.

Have you got plans for the engine? I have a 3 hp 1919 or 1920 Alamo 3 horse and part of an earlier Empire 3-1/2 hp (same same).

The number on the head is 56661. It appears that there was an ID plate on top of the water box immediatly over the head, it butted up against the opening in the box
