Default Pneumatic riveting hammer.

Hello,
We are currently restoring an old engineplow and the frame needs a complete rebuild.
I'm looking for a pneumatic riveting hammer for rivets 1/2". Does anyone has or knows one for sale with the dies? Transport and payment is no issue.
Marc.

Hi if you don't care what it cost they make rivet hammers in Germany and did in in Uk. I may have some spare rivet snaps. Advise dia of head and shank dia. in case your hammers are not the same as ours. I think for a one off job it may be better to pay someone to do it for you. bob

Hi Bob,

I wouldn't know where to find somebody doing this in Belgium.
We also plan to do more restorations in future and like to do it ourselves.. I have a smaller hammer but that only goes to 5/16" rivets. What company in Germany makes them?
Marc.

Hello Roger,
Just send me your phone number, and some pictures if possible. I will contact you over the phone than.
It can be delivered in the States, that's not a problem.

Marc.

Have you considered using a modern electric hammer drill? Several manufacturers make very substantial units, I suspect Bosch tools are available to you. I don't know if rivet header shanks are available but it shouldn't be too difficult to make or modify a standard shank for that purpose. These drills allow you to select rotate and hammer function or hammer only function. First thought would be to use hammer only, however the rotate/hammer function might actually work better. If you buy a hammer drill you will at least have a handy tool around the shop for the next time you need to do some concrete or stone work.

Are those numbers rivet diameter or length? A boatbuilder I knew used a air chisel with the chisel cut off and the shaft rounded off. Worked real good for copper boat nails used as rivets.

If clearance is not a problem make a big "C" frame on one end dish a rod the size of the head you want then use a hand hydralic pump or porta power on the other end with a dished cup on the ram. works right nice

Hello Terry,
I think the rivet would be to cold before that hand pump would have riveted it.
I found a good hammer in Michigan, thanks to one off the members here.
