Would like to know any information on the paint color and way to determine the year model of a Fairbanks Morse Eclipse 1A.

There is no real way to know how old you engine is because there are no records of what the production numbers were on them. Me and my friends think that the serial number is the number of the engine as it rolled down the assembly line
 I have #8 and my friend has #1204. But thats just my 2-cents
