Hello all

The photos show a boiler and engine, with display case that I have just picked up. Does anybody here know what it is that I have?

My first thought is that it is Marklin engne. Are there any symbols on it such as letters, wings or the like? It is a very nice piece and with the dynamo probably pretty sought after. With the display case someone thought a lot of it.

After taking a second look, I see that it is not a dynamo. Still a very nice piece.

Thanks Alan

No there are no markings of any sort. Not on either the base or the brass.

Do you think it is possible it was built from scratch?

I would need to see better pix. These are too dark for my old eyes. I lean toward a toy. Is the base wood or tin?

Jeff, it really appears that the engine may be a model. The boiler on the other hand really looks like a resurrected Marklin. The top where the stack fits on and the stack itself looks like one of my Marklin's.

Seems like someone needed a boiler for the engine he built. I may be totally off base since I am not an authority on model engines. It might help to put this on the model forum to see of anyone recognizes it.
