Unhappy Mogul S/S Scale model and not a Pacific Model Design

Speaking of models, I found this in a site a long time ago . One was made and the patterns were sold to somebody-someplace and I could never track them down . I guess they are just sitting around collecting dust . I would buy one rather quickly if someone-someplace would make them, or are in the process of making them, PM or email me if you have any information on this model Mogul S/S . THANKS .

Paul,

I'm pretty sure the Mogul model you posted is a kit offered by Pacific Model Design. This kit is offered as a hopper cooled or tank cooled kit. Below is a photo of the tank cooled version that my Dad (Heller Davis) built. Pacific Model Design is listed on our model suppliers pages at the link below. Please read the whole ad before you order.

Although I'm not an authority on this model, I did talk to Bob Bromps (Pacific Model) about both the tank cooled and the hopper cooled. He said the tank cooled is his, but that the hopper cooled is not and that he thought the latter was a one-off or very small run by someone else.

On a related note, I have tried for two years to get a price list or quote from Bob (who is very pleasant to chat with on the phone) and have not been able to get one either by post or email. I can only speak from my own impression when I say that I'm doubtful there will be any more production from PMD. I would certainly defer to someone who has more direct knowledge of the situation, but that's my impression.

What a nice looking pair of engines!

I have already purchased my next project, but I would put my name on a list to purchase the castings.

That does look like the engine. Would not be the first time I was wrong. I do remember Bob Bromps telling me years ago that he would be offering tank & hopper cooled versions of the mogul. Maybe he never got around to it making the hopper version. Sorry Paul guess I was wrong.

My compliments to you, beautiful engine. Do you have plans to release another version of this model?
The first pictures of the Lightning engine look great too!

I noticed if you go to Morrison & Marvin's home page you can not get to the Mogul Page that Joneg posted a link to. Does Mr hedberg of Morrison & Marvin still plan on selling this Mogul kit or is it on the back burner?

you can get to it from morrison & marvins homepage by clicking on publications and then bulletins. in marv's post he said he sold the patterns so it seems unlikely he will be selling castings

Has anyone talked with Mike Burns about it lately? Perhaps if enough people expressed an interest, he's be willing to make a run of kits. I certainly would be interested.

I just hope that someone into International Harvester Engines eventually winds up with all the patterns and drawings and can make them .

Lookie here what I found at Cabin Fever on 1-16-2010 . It's the 1/4 scale 4HP Mogul Hopper cooled model I inquired about awhile back. It's almost done with it's 8" flywheels, 2" stroke and a 1.25" bore, just beautiful with all the detail. It will be a completely finished, skidded model with fuel tank and battery box. Availability, soon, spring 2010. Absoutely "NICE". I and can hardly wait till it's done so I can get one in my back yard(so to speak) .

Paul,

Do you know who it is that will be selling the Mogul hopper cooled model? and will they be selling the casting kits also?

This is my model I will be producing.Hopefully by spring. It is 1/4 scale of a 4HP Mogul. I still have a few things to add to the model. It will have fuel tank, toolbox and am trying to design the lubricator yet.It will be a complete model. Hopefully I will be adding a clutch pulley at a latter date. This is the first prototye one build.I had it at the Cabin Fever Model show in York,Pa. this past weekend.I plan on building 12 Models in the first run.If interested in information contact or email me.I will build them as ordered. They will be running models.

Thumbs up Re: Mogul S/S Scale model and not a Pacific Model Design

Beautiful little engine there, wish I could get one of the 12, but reading the earlier thread I'm sure they're already spoken for, or would at least all be gone before I could scrape the money together.
