Need help identifing engine? (Economy)


I have an engine here i can't find any info on. serial number is 305394 RPM 475 Model - 3fw ...

Default Need help identifing engine? (Economy)

I have an engine here i can't find any info on.

serial number is 305394
RPM 475
Model - 3fw

any help is appreciated thanks, Justin

It's an Economy with some wierd flywheels.

I've seen economys like that with a mud pump style pump.

So do you think the flywheels are original, did any economy's come factory with battery and coil setup?

Looks like the governor was timed wrong at some point and broke the piston skirt.Seen that before! Chip

I seen a picture of one on here with that style of flywheels. i would say that is original.

That engine is a 3 HP that originally had a WICO EK magneto to fire the spark plug. The part of the spark plug mount where the WICO would have mounted has been broken or cut off. Glenn Karch discusses the flywheels like yours in his book on Hercules engines. They were built with smaller diameter, heavier flywheels to fit applications where there were space limitations.
