I just purchased the above described generator and need to find a manual and some parts for it. I could not find a manual on the Generac site so was wondering if someone could help. I also need the control board and panel. This unit went under water in Katrina but runs good and generates power. The water however, ruined the eletrical contols and boards. Also, can anyone tell me what the engine might be. It is listed as a 2.2 but no make.

Can't find your particular model number either, but many were very similar. Can you post a photo of the controls are you need parts for, and what engine your unit has--I'll see if I got anything that might cross-match.

I think it might be a Hino or possibly Nissan engine.

Put up a pic or two, I've seen a lot of these, Generac likes Kia and Daewoo diesels. Not much to the controls on these. Spent enough time under the hoods of generacs to know they are real peices of work-generac will gladly slap any engine to any alternator, and maybe they document it, maybe not.

With Genajunk you never know what you are going to find. I think that one has a Mitsubishia engine on it or maybe a mazda.

Also I hope you have plenty of money in the bank, when you try to repair it.

Gosh, some of these responses don't sound very encouraging! I am going to try and get this unit cleaned up and then post a few pictures this week. I know sometimes a good deal is not really a good deal, but I have been trying to find a gen set in my price range for three years and was able to get this one. I am a pretty capable mechanic, but have limited generator experience. Once I get the manuals and post some pictures it appears there are some of you on this site that can give me some good assistance.
Thanks to all of you for your inpit so far. |

We can help you no problem. But when dealing with Genajunk you better have lots of money.

Rjay,
Yes Generac is not looked on with much favor here. Last year I worked on a 20 KW LP fueled Generac for a local guy, who had bought it out of South Florida. The controll system was pretty well shot. The local Generac service man did not want to work on it. He wanted to sell the customer a new genset. The original controll set-up was connected to everything. even had a low cooling water alarm., But most of the needed circuit boards were no longer available. You could buy a new voltage regulator which I wire in a got the unit generating. I fabricated a rudimintry engine control system so the engine would shut-down with the loss of oil pressure. The customer use the unit every two weeks at his Go-Cart, Lawn Mower Racing, Garden Tractor Pulling track. This is another instance where I pulled someones "Cookies Out of the Fire" and now they come to me with all of their electrical problems. I do not know if I did good or BAD. Kent |

Generac uses a Mazda or Isuzu 2.2L Diesel. Attached is a pic of a 2.2L Isuzu.
locate a part number on the control board to identify the control board or a pic will do... |

Finally got this thing washed up and into the shop. Here are a couple of photos. The engine says, generac 2.2 Litre part number 67057. Engine runs good. Generator puts out but when I load it, it vibrates. I think someone has miswired it so am not going to run it until I can check everything out.

It has the paint of a Hino.

Thanks for the info. I have looked at many websites trying to find a photo or other information that may match the engine that is in this unit and have been unable to find anything. I agree with what everyone has said to this point. Mazda, Hino, Isuzu, don't really know and of course generac won't tell. I now have a schematic so will try to look at the wiring next week when I get back from work.

Take the Picture that you posted to your Local Injector and Injection Pump Rebuild Shop. They can tell you exactly, what you have..... as they likely have rebuilt hundreds of them....

Here is the latest in my Generac saga. The engine is a Mazda. I have posted two photos of the panel and have several questions. This panel seems to be quite complicated. Is it possible to eleminate most of the electronics and make it a little bit more practical? I would think most of the engine controls could be wired around the control panel and still have shutdown protection. In the one picture, those light blue wires are not connected to anything. I would like to run this on single phase and am not sure how all of this wiring needs to go. Can I get by with just the voltage regulator on the generator itself? That would eliminate that other control board. I may be way off base but have worked on heavy equipment for years and know that kiss is a much easier and reliable way to go. I am just beginning to get my feet wet on gen sets. I appreciate your help to this point. Thanks

I'm a little more concerned about the vibration that comes on with load. I wonder if the windings are corroding from the immersion that the unit suffered? That could be a Show-Stopper, as Jeff Foxworthy says.
If it were mine, I'd try to figure out what is causing the vibration before you spend much time on the control - the control is the easy part. |

The regulator looks to bee the same as the one that was used on the 20 KW unit I returned to service. I think Generac got a good deal on a BUNCH of blue wire as that is what was All over the 20 KW unit. Look for numbers on the wires. I was lucky in that I had a wiring diagram of the unit I was working on.

Katrina was a long time agao, and so much stuff spent a long time in that soup. I wouldn't spend a penny on this thing at this point till you meg out the alternator end. I sure hope you got one nice deal on this thing!

Robert - that's exactly what I was trying to imply - the vibration tells me that the focus should be on the integrity of the alternator. The control is minor.
