Default Porter #7 Motor

I was wondering if anyone had any info on this motor I have. It's a Porter #7 motor. I would really like to know when it was built and what it was used for. Looks like it's probably around 100 years old. It sings right along on 6 volts and has decent power.

That is a nice motor! Boy wouldn't OSHA and the other safety nuts go crazy seeing the brushes out in the open! I bet your right or very close about it's age, it does look very old. Are you going to clean it up and paint it? Sure would add a bit of something different to a show displaying it and other like it! Did you pick it up at the auction you just went to? It is a very nice find, and it still works isn't that something. Now days we don't seem to make anything that will last more than a year or so!

Hey I just got an idea! What do you think about spinning it with a small engine and running a light bulb with it at a show?

Danny,
Thanks for the comments! I did get it at the auction on Saturday. Don't know what I'm going to do with it as far as a restoration goes. I'll probably just leave it as is for now.

Here's a video I made of it running on 1-1/2 volts.

Could be a PORTER & LEAVITT ELECTRIC MOTOR COMPANY motor, circa early 1900's?
I wouldn't "restore" it !
