Default Old Unidentified Chainsaw, really need your help please?

Hi to all!
We have in our possession an old chainsaw which belonged to my father, I don't know where he got it from!
I am able to post pictures (I think! If I can work out how) if anyone would be willing to help me identify it. The sticker which has the name of the saw has pretty much worn away. It once was a mint green colour ( fair bit of paint missing and has a lot of oil/dust build up) and has Fairbanks Morse Co and Power Products branding on it. I have no idea the age or whether it is worth anything to a collector. I know someone here (in New Zealand) who collects, but would like more information before I offer it to them (I dont want to expect too much or too little for it). Any help would be very much appreciated, and I dont really know where to ask so have come across this site and thought you seemed like a friendly bunch of collectors )
Please let me know if you would be willing to take a look at some pictures and I will see what I can do.
Thanks for taking the time to read, my husband and I are most interested to find out more about the chainsaw!

What you have sounds like a Lombard chainsaw. The reason you see "fairbanks morse" is because they were a major supplyer for chainsaw recoil "starter rope housings" units. Pictures would definately help if you could post a few.

Power Products Co. was Vancouver, British Columbia, does it have a semi-circular guard over the carb on the back? These seem to bring a good price at least out on the East Coast, I paid $50 for a dismantled one of these and a Reed Prentice 2 man and figured it was a good deal. Pics I nabbed off the net as I already posted one sof mine in another chainsaw thread, can take more pics if needed. Would advise you sell as these can lead to a very addictive disease known as "chainsaw collecting" I bid on one that pulled over at an auction a few years ago until it went over $75, but then I hadn't fully succumbed to the disease yet. But then I havn't purchased a saw in almost 6 months now, my parents are optimistic for my recovery. (Sanity is overated).

Thanks heaps for your replies. I have uploaded some pics to album in my profile, which should help. Please take a look if you have a minute, and let me know what you think? Again, I am just wondering if it is worth anything or not. I guess also depends how hard they are to find here in NZ.

We are shifting house due to having twins on the way and this is the reason for my sudden need/want to do something with the saw (other than have it sitting in my garage for another 5 years!)
Cheers

Should be a pic uploaded in this message too... hopefully!

Someone correct me if im wrong, but this looks to be a Homelite chainsaw. I have two of these i rescued from a scrapper. Around here, if they have spark and compression, they will fetch 20.00 to 30.00

Honestly thought Homelite was either red or light metallic blue? I have no idea of course about who shipped what to New Zealand, would guess 1960's vintage.

Probably an old MONO. It is about the right color and I have a different model that color with the Power Products engine on it. Over at the collectors site we started listing all the known brands that built a saw around that motor and the list is very long.

I uploaded an article from 1955 on Lancaster in a "Chainsaw Identification Requested" thread here already, I thought it was an odd one when I found that and have never seen a real example, but honestly forgot what it looked like. Dropped the ball on that one, sorry.

Awesome!
Thanks heaps! Does look the same as the 'nicer' one in the pics - although the bar looks longer on mine?
So it was made in 1950's? Are they common? Should I be giving this to a collector or asking something for it (in your opinions) I have no idea if it goes or not. My husband reckons he could get it to go, I fear for his arms or legs so haven't pushed the issue on that one...
Thank you all for taking time to reply!

Not common here in the Northeast USA (at least I never saw one available, or I'd own it already), but I can't guess on the South Pacific. Chainsaws are pretty much worth what someone is willing to pay, which is where I usually suggest an auction if they aren't happy with my offer, because I don't know how badly someone else would want it. I personally hate to go over $50 on a one man and $100 on a 2 man unless it is something rare, or at least I don't already have, as I have no room for duplicates. It makes a difference if it is complete, turns over, at least has spark. I'm satisfied with static display, most collectors want it to run.

Lynda,....i fear for your husband arm also. He should not use this saw to hurt himself but you can give it to me and i will take good care of her..... If you need to get rid of the saw i would take care of it in my museum.
You can send me a EMAIL....
