Default Farymann / Briggs Single Cylinder Diesel

I have recently acquired a new Farymann Diesel from the time they were allied with Briggs and Stratton. If the information I have is correct It would have been built prior to 1986. It is Model: 15A430-0111001 34 K4 5415 3600. It is complete less a power output shaft from the flywheel and what I would think it should have is some type of shroud with a screen around the output shaft to all air intake to the cooling fan similar to my CH-23 Kohler. I would appreciate any information anyone can give me as to the specifications of this engine and where I might be able to purchase a Flywheel Shroud and output shaft. I wish to use this engine to power a rototiller on the back of my John Deere 317 Garden Tractor. It will require a pulley on the output shaft of the engine. The engine is complete otherwise and has never been fueled or had Oil put in it. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Can you post a picture of your engine. I have an incomplete engine and wonder if it is like yours. I might sell.

Sorry, I don't get on this board very often. That does look a lot like my engine. I'll have to look what's on the front of it.

Hi Jeff:

I eMailed the listed US represenatives that had that capability and did not receive a single acknowledgement of my eMail. I then eMailed Greaves Farymann since they bought Faryman. Again no answer. I then eMailed Farymann directly in Germany. I wrote the eMail in English and received the following reply: (I am including Mario's eMail address for your future reference.)

m.diefenbach@farymann.de

Dear Jack,

airmail to Kaufman in Texas first so you will be able to check all
technincal details and informations exactly and if there is any
question or request , please feel free to contact me again.

Best Regards from Germany

MARIO

Thanks for your answer!
Jack

Since my last Posting Vernon delivered his engine to Kaufman Texas where I picked it up. The Power Shaft fit the Farymann Briggs engine and is adequate for my use. My new engine from Vernon is a Farymann 22L0577 - N - 3000. Parts of the engine are missing. The cylinder seems to have little wear but it apparently has sit outside a lot and was very rusty and the paint was missing. I cleaned it up and painted it. It is missing the upper shrouds, Rocker Arms, Push rods, Rocker Arm covers and all plumbing. The Rod, Crank, Cylinder, Piston all seem to be in good shape. The Plastic cooling fan is not usable as it is broken in several places.

The Farymann Briggs started on the first crank after priming the fuel system. It ran for 5 minures very smoothly at Idle, 5 minutes at half throttle, and about 5 minutes at full throttle when the plastic cooling fan started breaking up.

This appears to be the greatest weakness in these air cooled engines as the plastic ages.

I am attaching pictures of the 22L0577 engine as it is now.
