Good way to find out is to talk to a stihl dealer. See what todays equivilant is. Then you have a pretty good gussing range. Add or subtract condition. Thats what i did with a recently obtained 031 AV i got. Baught it for $25. Todays equivilant runs 400 dallors. I add or subtract partaining to condition and what model it is. Some are rarer then others.

I usually watch ebay to get an idea, keeping shipping charges in mind, but ultimately it is about personal desire, and Stihl has a lot of fans. A friend of mine only quit using his when the repair shop it sat at over a year started robbing parts from it to fix other people's saws, and since has run Husqvarna.
