Photo Generac NP75D Model 9344-1

I have become the owner of a Generac NP75D Model 9344-1 7.5KW generator. The price was good (free), but the genhead is damaged and does not work. The engine runs very smooth. I would like to replace with the same head if I can find and afford.

Does anybody know where I may be able to get one?

Thanks

Great forum.

Generator is damaged how? Rear bearing went/took out windings, mice issues? Water?

You could check to see how much it would run to have it re-wound/repaired if your talking about the windings are bad. If rear bearing was destroyed, the end bell can be bored (most times) and a hardened insert installed to re-center the bearing.

I don't think there is any damage to the stator. rotor, or bearings. The Generac people ruled the stator and rotor bad before the damage.

From My ONE experiance with a Generac generator and THEIR Service people, I think their policy is to tell the customer the unit IS NOT worth fixing, Let use sell you a new one. This is what was done with the 20 KW Generac unit I fixed for a customer. There are many on this board who are of the same oppinion, they do not think much of Generacs ( AKA Generjunk ). The people who think this on this board would want you to buy SOMETHING OTHER THAN A GENERAC.
But at the price you got this unit for you can not go to wrong. If you understand how to use an ohm meter and can get the owners manuel, The owners manuel I had for the 20 KW unit also had a wiring diaghram in the back. Do some check you might be able to fix it. One thing for sure, It is broke now, you can not hurt it by trying to fix it. The only thing you will loss is some time. You might learn something working on it and YOU MIGHT fix it.

I would spend some time and check it out. The test are easy to do and you may find nothing wrong. May be bad regulator or wiring. Never trust what the genajunk people tell you in the way of repairs. They are after sales not repairs. Any good rewind shop can rebuild the back end. A lot cheaper than Genajunk will sell you. Genajunk sells units cheap, but make up for it on the price of parts.

Well, I took your advise. Put it back together. Before there was zero output. Now I get 22 volts at 62 cycles with no load. Before none of the regulator lights were on. Now the yellow (sensing) light is on. I am getting about 32 volts on the exitation output. I think this is high. 11.9 volts going to the brushes.

Any thoughts?
