It's half - o - clock in the morning, and I can't get to sleep 'cuz this question is whirrin' around in my little noggin'.
![]() Some folks names are in a dark red color and they have Registered-II under their names. What does this mean? ![]() Thanks for explaining, so I can get back to sleep !

I just noticed this only after you mentioned it, and I've been on almost all day, so it must be something very new.

It's an attempt to slow down or prevent "one hit wonders" who sign up only to promote themselves, their sales or whatever else only to never be seen again.
New registrants must have 20 posts and be registered for 20 days to become registered-II. Then posting to Smoke and Flames opens up and access is given to the chat room. I hope this clears up things.

Thanks Craig for the explanation. I just noticed that change to my name. I also see that instead of being the usual color it has changed to brown

Hey! I'm relieved! I thought maybe this whole thing would have blown up and brought the roof down. We had a great day outside here - the rest of the family joined us and we had a garage/yard sale today. (When you get to be old guzzards, you will find out that your kids never leave home and that translates to their junk is always stored at your place.) Anyway, good traffic, good weather and a great day.
This system promotions thing is fully automatic and that's good for me. Those in the Registered-II category are our regulars who do more than hit-and-run posting or lurking. As a result, we can add a few extra perks like access to the chat room, etc. Maybe with another level or two, I can get out of the need to manually approve all new users as they apply. We'll put them on a stepping stone plan to becoming regulars at Smokstak. Our board system has a ton of features. It's just a matter of gradually working into them without breaking something. You know, if it ain't broke... |
