Default Homelite info?

I just added this saw to the collection today:

I am posting this in most of the saw forums to see if anybody has some answers for me regarding the tag:

I do not recall seeing "Terry" on a Homelite tag before, nor did I know that they were built in Canada. I have searched the web and looked for any books on the history of Homelite and have not come up with much.
Any info on the company and this tag would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Eddie

Hello Eddie
What model number is printed on the side of the Homelite? I can see XL but cannot make the numbers out.Did you check on Mike Acres site for info?

It is a Super XL 925, Lawrence.
Acres says it is about 82cc, but no other info as to dates.
But OldMacGuy at the collectors forum posted a bulletin that explains how to read the serial number so it is an '86 model, and all the Canada units say "Terry" on the tag but nobody has said why.
This is a later production model, though. Wayne Sutton has an earlier model and the paint job is different and it used a different ignition system.

Hello again Terry
Do you think that Terry on the chainsaw is just a play on words seeing how the saw was made by Textron? Have you tried contacting Alain of the Vintage chainsaw blog.He is on this site and other sites as well. You might also want to try the House of Homelite website.

A bit of history...Textron purchased homelite corp in 1955 and contracted Terry machinery as their distributor. Terry was well known and establish and would eliminate them at the same time as being a competitor and homelite would save lots of money in distributorship investment.
In 1960 Textron purchased Terry machinery and turn them as their exclusive homelite chainsaw producer.
I have in my collection one of the first Terry saw (serial 17) branded into the homelite product.

Thanks for the info Alain, I was not aware of that connection in Canada. Now I know what the model and serial number mean and why Terry was on the tag. Forums are cool!!!
