Default Found: Waukesha Power Unit for Sale in Oregon

I found a power unit on Craigslist during the week. The owner didn't know what it was. I was hoping it was an old McCormick unit. Instead, it was a Waukesha Industrial Unit. Near as I can tell, it is a Model XAHUIU3134A, Unit 17498. It has a Zenith sidedraught carb. It is missing the air cleaner. It was manufactured without a fuel tank, and has a factory block-off plate in the hole where the fuel filler neck would normally go. It has a paper flat-belt pulley on the rear. It has a hand crank, and I did not see evidence of a starter now that I think on it. It has the magneto. The side curtains are missing. A can has been on the exhaust pipe, so I don't think any rain got in it. The engine and manifold are not cracked, and the radiator appeared good. I didn't really want it, but offered $100 thinking I could find someone that did. He didn't go for it, but said that he was thinking more like $300.

If anyone is interested in getting this unit, feel free to e-mail me and I will give you his phone numbers. It is located between Astoria, OR and Longview, WA in the little town of Knappa. I would love to see this go to a good home. It think should run with a little cleaning and TLC on the fuel system.

If anyone goes to get this, you might also be interested in the mini-crawler that he has there too. My friend said it was something like an Agri-Trak or similar. It has what looks like a 8 or 10 horse cast-iron Briggs & Stratton engine. I think if someone made him an offer, he would sell that too.

I should say, to contact me for the phone numbers, click on my name, and send me a message via e-mail. I cannot get PMs, and I don't have an IM account.

This must be the week for XA's....
I have an XAHU on my engine list, but not an XAHUIU (the series seemed to go X, XA, XAH, XAHU and XAUH, XAK etc). At a guess, I'd say it was an XAHU, with the IU meaning Industrial Unit, but that's just a guess; ordinarily the 3134A would be the works/variation number, specifying the accessories (fuel, ign, clutch etc) or possibly some engine internals.
Colin: If you haven't already, you might post this to oldihc.org and justihc.com (org?), as Int'l used XA's and XAH's in the late 20's up to 1937. I have no idea how many differences there would be between the power unit and the truck versions, but much of the basic block etc should (??) be the same, and Int'l owners might therefore be interested.
Build sheets MIGHT be available thru the Wauk Eng Hist Soc (wehs@me.com); they have manuals no longer available thru Wauk/Dresser but no parts.

Colin, any activity on this??
It'd be a shame to see it scrapped, altho probably less a danger now with prices back down.
Besides the Int'ls, XA's and XAH's were in some farm eqpmt and Fairmont Railcars, and probably other things I've forgotten.
If no activity email me (pitybud@msn.com) and I'll post it around a few more places.
