Just curious, did those prices include the 10% buyers premium? Wish I could have been there. I was planning on attending but me wife sprained her ankle so we were getting some xrays this morning. Prices look pretty fair. How was the economy with the drill rig?

Tommy, I thought they were good deals. It seems in this area the common engine is not bring a very good price. There was a auction in Maryland too. I think maybe ever body went to that one.
James, Those prices didn't show buyers premium. The economy was all there, but allot of iron to haul around.

Thumbs up Re: Chester Auction Results

All prices were + the 10% premium. All in all though, the prices were reasonable. Most engines would be run=able, though most would need fuel tanks. About 80% on them had 1 Qt oil bottles for fuel tanks. About 40% would need the proper WICO EK covers, most were installed with the lead out tower facing the wrong direction. Some of the engines were barn fresh - all originals! A few were nicly restored, and again a few needed a little TLC. All well worth the prices paid. I overheard the owner telling a buyer that the auction company wanted to remove all the mags, to make more money. The owner told them 'NO WAY, everything goes with its mag and crank!" HOORAY for MrCerro! A man who values scruples rather than cash! My hat's off to him

The Wico I got was a good one. I see the Headless Witte is up on eBay.

According to those prices, my engines are way down in value, just like my house.

I found it interesting that there were only about 40 or so people at this auction. I wonder if the accident that had the road closed off for a time had anything to do with it I know when I asked the police officer how far up the road the auction was, he had no idea. Fortunately when I came though again about 10 minutes later he was gone and traffic had resumed. Turned out where I needed to go wasn't near the accident

Oh, It was a great day for the buyer, most of the engines ran, but not for a few years. most all were on carts. all had mags., or electric for spark.
the fun was over when i got them running.
All of my engine pals have passed. and that took the spark out of it.
i have a full machine shop here to make it a bit easy to re do the engines. it hurt a bit to see them go so cheap. but then for those who purchased them, they will be bragging on the great buy they got. and thats not a bad thing. i hope they enjoy them, or resell them or hand them down, what ever is fine they are theirs.
i used to show them at Jacktown Pa. but could not lug them any longer.
But I will still attend and enjoy many shows a year. Kinzer and Jacktown , have the best shows and FOOD in my area.
I kept one, a, briggs FH and water pump on a carry frame. that set up received more questions and looks than any thing i ever showed.
that was one of four articals that were puplished in Gas Engine Mag.
Hey the season is here , Enjoy the shows.
all the best, Dan Cerro

Guess I'm lucky, my son is in the hobby with me. Also have a couple of sons in laws that are interested and the grandsons are getting close to wanting to get started again. Greats will have to wait a while! Just not big enough yet. Wish you well in the up coming years. Be sure to have as much fun as you can while you're still able.
