Default Coleman 2250-B&S idle mixture ?

I just got an old Coleman 2250 w/ 5hp B&S. It's a model with no idle control. When you start it, it runs at full speed. The carb is a pulsa-jet with the fixed-jet model. Why would there be an idle mixture adj screw if it was never made to idle? I thought it may help with cold starts, but the choke does that. ??
