Default Steam Powered Ice Cream Maker

I'm attaching Joe Byler's steam powered ice cream maker! This photo was taken in 2007 and shows the scale Baker powering the ice cream maker at NTA.

I just received his contract to attend the 2009 NTA show & make more "steam powered" ice cream! ....those few black speckles are free toppings! ...not really, but if you walk by an engine that is working, your ice cream may acquire a few speckles.

And I'll bet it tastes so much better than that noisy John Deere ice cream.

If steam made ice cream has sprinkles on it, does John Deere made ice cream have poppers in it [insert cheeky sod here]

I can run one of my freezers with my little stationary unit. A word of caution... be sure she is not reversed or you will wind up with butter!!!

Ah yes, the Byler family's ice cream .... one of my favorite parts of attending the NTA .... steam cylinder oil is right up there with butterscotch and chocolate as a topping in my book.

Jason,

I borrowed this from the NTA website. Here's the link to the 2008 pictures. http://www.nationalthreshers.com/pho...hotos_2008.htm

Dalene Deck took the photo. She was kind enough to allow NTA to post many of her fine photos on the site for more to enjoy!

That ice cream sure sounds good about now...I still have some brownies left from Saturday ......perhaps we'll have to add some ice cream to the Stakker dinner?!?!?

WHAT brownies left from Saturday. What kind of a nut case are you? Left over brownies, who ever heard such nonsense!

JH!

"Nut case!?!" These things give you a sugar buzz just sniffing them! They have to be eaten in moderation...although Zach dove into them pretty hard....

Come to the Stakker dinner at Wauseon & you can have one...ice cream too!

Joe Byler has added the wooden block braking system to the portable this year. We were looking at it closely yesterday (as we enjoyed that ice cream!).

After talking with Tristan Lund at NTA, he too likes the idea of making a skid portable. Has anyone else thought of this?

The other neat thing to this unit is the clutch system for the 2 ice cream makers. Joe can engage one or 2 of the ice cream makers at any time. The little engine develops a nice exhaust as the ice cream freezes too!
