This is a pretty unusual find, I think. It is a Worcester hay rake with nice readable stencil lettering and good wood and paint. I got this a couple years ago from a farm that still included horses for some of the work. They had a small assortment of wagons, sleighs and implements. I acquired the rake hoping eventually I would find another rotted down example or that the wheels would turn up at the this farm location.
It would be nice to get this united with some wheels. I am sure there are more wheels than surviving rakes. Or let it go to someone with the parts. For now, I would like to see what the wheel look like. Does anyone here have a Worcester hay rake? These have a distinctive seat design. I see the seat all the time at flea mkts - never a complete rake anywhere... Last edited by Peter; 05-12-2009 at 07:35 AM. |

Looks like a really nice rake. I'm mot sure what the wheels are supposed to look like but hay rake wheels are pretty plentyful. They are to tall to make engine carts out of, so most get used as lawn ornaments. I would put any kind of wheel on it for now until I could find the right ones.

this set of wheels are 48" dia. , 6 1/2" hub length with a 1" dia. hole and a 2" wide rim which is crowned in profile.
the hub is stepped in on the ends. i counted 18 spokes. Peter if you have any interest in these send me a pm. Dan |

Badboy,
I just got a measure form my spindle. This would take a 1 1/4 bore with 5 1/2 wide. The 5 1/2 includes some knid of gear or cam to trip the rake. If I dont have the right cam/gear on the end - then 4 1/2 wide hub would work. I think those are just a bit too big all around to work with. But I do appreciate the offer. THANKYOU |
