Hello:

As far as I know, poly tanks approved for fuel (not poly water tanks) are fine for any kind of diesel. The only problem I'm aware of is with ethanol. In certain older fiberglass and poly resin tanks, ethanol causes the resin to leech out and this resin mixes with the fuel to form a thick goo that, obviously, would ruin an engine and gum up everything. This, however, doesn't happen with diesel. If anyone has better information, I'd like to know also.

Bob

The traditional processes for refineing biodiesel use either ethanol or methanol. They attempt to remove all the alcohol from the finished product, but the residual is part of why biodiesel can eat through some materials.

Keep it out of direct sunlight, transfer to metal tank ASAP. Do NOT store beyond 60 days! Avoid excess ambient heating (more than 75 F)

I found a guy in Germantown, OH with 55gal plastic drums for $16 each. I bought 6, 1 for fuel and the other 5 for other projects.

I'll be adding a small shed roof to keep my tank out of the sun.(250gal steel) Probably wrap it in Reflectix too.
