Please explain how the displacer piston rod is moved. I cant tell from the photo.

The displacer rod was not attached to the crank in the first picture. The video of it running is below.

The guy that owned this stuff was a choremaster dealer here in central Indiana, and was around for years. So, the engine is pretty old, but so was most of the things i bought at this auction
