Need advice for upcoming auction

I am planning on attending the following auction in Kansas, as it is close to home (sort of),

I would like advice on what hit and miss engine would good for a starter engine or first engine. I worked as a mechanic for 25 years and been playing with cast iron air cooled engines for over a year so I am mechanically experienced, but just not on hit and miss engines(yet). I am experienced with auctions as well and try to do my research before and stay calm during the action.

Any advice would be appreciated and are any other stakkers going to be there?

I would say the Hercules or the Rock Island, there will probably be engines that are a little cheaper, but they shouldn't be real high. I will try to be there myself.
