Briggs and Stratton Model U - Handiman Jr. Engine
I got this Briggs and Stratton Model U a couple of days ago. It was originally on a 1941 Handiman Jr. walk behind tractor, but I took it off to get it running. I plan to mount the engine back on the tractor when I get new tires for it. Anyway, as far as repairs go, I totally rebuilt the mag and replaced the points and condenser, then cleansed the gas tank of extreme varnish. My hand is holding the throttle down because the engine's governor is shot and needs replacing. The rope starting cup is also rusted through on one side. And the carb is still a little dirty and needs cleaning.
Thanks, Keith Puffer. And yes, I will mount the engine back on the tractor. I'm planning on making a sulky type thing for it so my dad and I can ride it at shows.
