The feature for this year's rally in Sydney is "Rusty and Running" so my plan is to make my Bartram mobile and take it along.

I have owned this engine since 2000 so I guess it is time I rallied it. The only major job is to replace the transporter beams as they are badly rotted at one end.

I have new beams which just need to be tidied up and drilled. I could shorten the original beams but I think by the time I hit good timber there would not be enough left to allow for the mounting of the cooling tank. The original beams may have already been shortened once as this engine seems to have been mounted for a saw bench. The only time the Bartram catalogues show the engine mounted over the turntable is when a sawbench was fitted. Normally the engine is mounted over the fixed axle.
There is talk of a few other Bartrams coming along so if you have one come and join the fun. We may even make a record for the most number of Bartrams at one rally

Hi Patrick

I am looking forward to this years rally as the theme "Rusty & Running" suits the majority of my collection - at least the rusty part. I am close to the grounds so I am planning on making a few trips & taking along the following:

Olds (as usual!) & Large Gould water pump
3HP Associated
Stover/Cooper W

Cheers, Luke

I will have to bring out a nice painted engine as well; just for contrast.

Patrick, I had plans to get the YB Stover/Cooper vertical back together and running prior to Rusty Iron rally and our rally as it fits into both themes - or would if I finish it in time. Still need to chase up the carb and vented crankcase cover to get castings off. Cheers, Luke
