Default SA 200 Welder needs a new Continental F162

Hello,
I am new to the group but I would bet someone here knows where I could get a Continental F162 motor. Running would be great, but all it needs to be is rebuildable. I recently aquired a Lincoln Welder and the previous owner left it outside without the exhaust covered.

Needless to say the engine is a mess and it would be cheaper if I just found another one.

I have found some engines in old fork lifts but they are too far away. I live in the louisville, ky area

Thanks for all your help.

Sam

If you don't find something local we used this guy for our 2- Miller 200amp. gas drives. They are a commerical outfit and prices will be higher than you local fixer or back yard storage warehouse, but they have a lot of options
Good luck: Bill

I have found a few commercial motor sources too but they are selling rebuilt for $1700-2000. I am hoping I can find something much less expensive because I can do the engine work.

Thanks,
Sam

Be carefull here. Not all 162 engines in a forklift are like those in a welder. How far do you want to go for parts and is the key item a block?

I have found a F163 that came out of a lincoln welder. I think the key difference is it has a distributor instead of a mag. I will check it out tomorrow and see if it looks like a fit.

Can list parts on welding forum site for sale ads or enginads.com here. Welder parts and older welders aren't bringing as much now as many welders nation wide are out of job right now. You could have adapted a F163 into it or rebuilt one of them for tad less than F162. What you got quoted is pretty much the going rate to rebuild a F162. Listing several links you can check with.
