Airco Wasp 225/200 AC/DC Welder Problems

I purchased an Airco Wasp 225/200 AC DC Welder and it has some problems. The Onan engine on it runs like a top. The generator works fine as well. It has a switch that has possibly been added that allows the generator to run without the welder and vise versa. When I switch it to run the welder it begins to smoke and I can smell insulation burning. I can see what looks like wiring that has been overheated on the welder windings. My question is: Is there someone that will rewind the welder portion? If so, what is the cost for such an over haul? I don't know whether to have it fixed or pull the engine and scrap the rest. Thanks!
