I dont understand how ebay works. I was bidding on a engine that had 7 days listed on the third day it said it was sold and the winning bidder bid on it three times with no one bidding against him. was it the owner trying to get higher bids using another name or what. that outfit pisses me off. some kind of funny business goes on there sometimes. Other times ebay is ok. Just venting. sorry. whats worse it was listed on engine ads only to wind up on ebay and then that happens.

Did it have " BUY IT NOW"? It may end early when buyer are willing to pay that much to buy it now instead bidding in lower amount.
Ebay does have instructions when you click community.

A few weeks ago, I was bidding on a 2 oz Maytag oil can. At the last seconds someone bid higher than me! That is okay.
But the can is back, or at least they are using the same pictures, the same seller YSI has it listed again at a $65 buy it now price! Here is a link! http://ebay.com/MAYTAG-HOUSEHOLD-OILER-TIN-OIL-CAN-ADVERTISING It makes me wonder if they looked at my feedback and thought that I would pay more money, because of all the Maytag stuff I have purchased lately. Or did some guru friend of theirs try to tell them it was worth much more? Of course the bidders names are blocked so a person could not trace any potential cheating! This would also make a person wonder how many extra user id names they may have? Check out their other auctions, I find it curious that most of the stuff they have lately is electronics. I find it odd that they came up with two pretty rare cans. When I say rare I mean the great condition they are in, including both having the lead cap! But wait there is only pictures of one can! Of course when things like this are brought to evilbays attention they blow you off! If this is what happened the joke is on them. While they are thinking this is a $65 can I purchased one at the Brandanburg Ky show. It is not quite as pristene as their cans, whoops I mean their can, but it is close and only cost me $25. A much more realistic price! While looking at my pretty can they are still sitting on theirs!

Strange but when I just checked YSI again, I don't see any electronics on their first page of items for sale! That is all they had when I checked it out earlier today, one page, all electronic items. What is the deal? Was it an Evilbay screwup!
I have noticed lately that evilbay has changed everything from payments to feedback and even links to navigate their site causing confusion and errors! I guess what they want is everyone to pay with paypal and keep us in the dark while they make more $ collecting more paypal fees! |

I would agree that there is to many crooks on ebay but there are some good people on there too. Ive bought about 45 things on there and only got burned once. Paid for a item that i didnt get.

Check the listing closely. Since it had a reserve, the multiple bids were probably placed by one bidder trying to figure out what the reserve was. Then there was probably communication between the seller and the bidder that resulted in an agreement on a selling price and the seller probably just ended the listing early to sell at the agreed price. Happens all the time.

Yeah but the seller kinda of screws himself on doing that. I was planning on bidding on it and would have gave more than what it brought. Oh well win some lose some.

Typically, the price shown on the auction is probably less than what the engine actually sold for. Sellers will end the auction early at a lower price to save on eBay final value fees, but the actual selling price behind the scenes is probably higher. The seller doesn't always screw himself. Seen it happen many times.

It's more fun to find them this way - no bidding required. The catch is that I will probably never find the spout to go with it.
