There's another thread on here about this same auction stating that the boiler is good for 175lbs..... Which is right ? Either one should be more than able to make some serious power though if this is 1/2 scale.

Hey Beth, could you float me a loan with no job at the moment if I promise to pay it back in my next lifetime ?

It is a really nice engine. Butch Vollmar can tell you how much it would pull on his mill. He misses the little powerhouse.

OTTO-Sawyer: Hmmm, no income.....unemployment doesn't count as "income."......ummmmm, probably not. I need my job to pay for my addiction.

Besides, I'd like it to stay in this area. It really is an eye catcher....even if it is a "CASE!"

175 lbs is correct, however Ansel used a 150# pop because he had trouble getting a 175# that would work correctly. It put out 27 hp on an M & W dyno before Ansel passed away. Butch

I thought there would be more intrest in the 20/40 Case 2/3 scale model, as it is truely a nice model, and at 18 hp is no toy. This tractor has all the workings as the big ones. Ansel used to put this tractor on our sawmill before he had his model 110 Case finished. I have not seen in the model magazines or anywhere else, of a 20/40 Case 2/3s model being in existance. Butch.

That's probably just scratching the $ break-even point if you were to build one...???

Is the 2/3 scale 20/40 for sale too ? If so, do you have a link to it ?
Not that I could afford it myself anyway right now, but it would look great next to the full sized one if we ever get it up and running and back at our show again. I used to dream about building a 1/3 - 1/2 scale of the 20/40 years ago, but like most other dreams, it hasn't come true yet...

The 20/40 Case 2/3s model is on the same ebay motors number as the Case 110, look for the additional items part at the right of the screen. It is a nice model and ran well. The engine is a unstyled A John Deere block cut if half and set up to run opposed. At 550/600 RPMs it will crank out 18 hp. running on that configureation. The gearing is just like the big ones with one speed forward and one speed reverse. The govenor setup is very quick. We used to run this tractor with our 1/2 scale Advance steamer together on our sawmill and they ran it well together. It is a nice unit. Butch

Exclamation Re: 1/2 scale case 110 on ebay

Wish I had logged back on and read the last note on this thread before the auctions ended. That 2/3rds scale 20-40 should have brought a lot more than it did !

Too late after the fact, but part of the problem was it was listed in the wrong catagory (eBay Motors) and wasn't found by enough of the right people. eBay Motors is for cars trucks and motorcycles and parts thereof with thousands and thousands of listings to go through and very few people looking for tractors in that grouping.

Other than word of mouth and/or people that managed to find the 110 Case checking to see what else he was selling, No-one else would have found the listing unless they were looking specifically for "Case", "Case Tractor", "20-40 Case", or some other combination of words that would have narrowed their search enough to find it. If it hadn't been for the post here on Smokstak I wouldn't have known about the 110, also in the wrong catagory !

Had it been listed with other gas engines and/or tractors in the "Business & Industrial - Agriculture & Forestry - Staionary Engines - Engines" catagory or one of the other breakdowns of the "Business & Industrial - Ag & Forestry" listings it would have been found by hundreds if not thousands more people that go through those listings on a regular basis.

People will look through a few hundred listings on 3-4 pages but don't normally scan through tens of thousands of listings on hundreds of pages in eBay Motors.

The new owner definitely got a deal on the 2/3 scale 20-40 at $5448.00 Beautiful looking tractor.
I would venture to say though that it would have brought upwards of 3 times that amount if listed better.
