Question Minnesota grain binder

Hi all, i have a minnesota grain binder and would like some information on it if anybody can help. I cannot get the knotter mechanism to free up. It has open oil cups for lubrication. Need to know what the forcart looks like to put on it. Thanks cliff

Cliff, sounds like you're gonaa need to do a lot of soaking with some good penetrating oil on the knotter.
As for a forecart-- all the horse drawn binders I've seen-- IHC/McCormick-- John Deere-- the Case/Osborne I have, all use what we call "trucks" that are alll simmilar in design,to carry the binder weight, and have a tongue for the horses.
I don't have any pics available, but I'm sure a search of the site will show you what you want to know.
PS--I've never seen a Minn binder, but I bet they were equipt the same as the others.

When you DO get things freed up.......before you attempt to see how or IF the knotter works be SURE the bill hooks are perfectly smooth and shiney!
Between uses put a gob of grease over them to keep them that way.

If anyone is interested, I have brand new old stock sickles for the minnesota grain binder. A local dealership use to handle Minnesota implements and when a capenter here that I know remodeled the building he brought me a whole bunch of 'em.
