Default White/Hercules D3000 6 cyl Starter ID

Someone stripped the starter from my gen set and now I am clueless as to the model /make to replace it. The jobbers I have contacted do not have a listing for this engine, It looks like a direct drive although some starter shops have pointed me to gear reduction units.
It is a three bolt mounting and it would be nice if it were 12v.
Anyone knowledgeable ----I think the engines birth was arround 1986. Engine model on tag is White D3000x190 mfg by the Hercules Motor Corp. Is this a Delco -- Autolite ????

You might contact a a White, Oliver, Minnie Mo ag dealer as the engine on your generator was also likely used in their equipment.

See Eric L's 6-6-08 Herc DD298 etc thread here (comes up on search Hercules D3000) for a discussion of Herc similar displacement engines, and John S's suggestion to try Jerry Biro.
Jobbers and M & M surplus both mention starters, but I assume they'd be $$$$...don't know if herculesengines.com has starters, nor anything about their prices.
On using a starter from a similar displacement engine, I'd guess--GUESS--you'd have to be sure the ring gears and the bendix gears were the same, the right distance from the mounting to the ring gear, etc, AND if the proposed starter was designed for similar compression and usage.
A number of Google hits come up on "Hercules D3000 starter".
Good luck.
