Does anybody have a Serial Number List for Continental Red Seal Power Units? I have a model No. GRA-589 with Serial No. 127724 and would like to know what year it was built.

Uhhhh...where on your rig does the GRA-589 appear???
John was probably at least partly asking for casting #'s as GRA isn't a familiar Cont designation...
Cont had some old G's: G, GA, GB in the teens, all 4cyl's, and a later set of G's: G, GD and GF, again all 4's, but no GR, as far as I've found, and none as large as 589 (Cont numbers are often the cid)...
I don't pretend my engine lists are complete, especially with Cont; let us know where the GRA 589 appears, and if on an ID tag anything else it shows.
Whatever the 589 means, it's apparently not the cid, judging by the pic...

Thanks for the help you guys...OK, I think I have the correct information now. I cleaned up an aluminum tag on the Engine that is stamped "F162 99069". In the block casting it looks like the digits "L2W" . Do any of these numbers indicate the year built?

I am working on some of that. F series the most common Continentals. They were made in 3 sizes F 124, F 140 & F-162. Used by many many OE manufactures. Parts are plentifull. The 6 cylinder F series came out in the mid to late 1930's
