i was eyeballing this lister, and other than the water jacket having been broken and welded, does it look to any of you the the flywheel toward the long side of the base is sitting at an interesting angle?

For anyone that remembers "All in The Family" I think that would be one of those things Archie called an "Obstacle Dilusion"! Archie's way of saying optical illusion.
I think whoever took the picture stood too close and distorted the image. The first picture doesn't look quite so bad once you rotate it a few degree's like I did in the second pic here, and get the cylinder straight up & down, then the flywheel doesn't look quite so far off. The next engine back looks like the flywheel is bent even more the other dirrection, then look at the angle the forklift is setting compaired with the trailer load of engines. The picture from the other side is way out of wack. But if you look at them all where the flywheel sticks through the base, it looks like it matches up OK with the opening. It might be worth asking the seller a question BEFORE bidding. If you assume it's straight and find out after buying it that it really is bent that bad, ebay might back them because of what the pictures show.

Hey guys, thanks for looking. Lots of watchers on this one, but no offers. I have two of these listers and I thought two would make one. Problem is that both have tons of parts that are usable.
One guy wrote me and I was shocked to think that there was a bent flywheel... I just checked and guess what, yes, the one on the large base is bent that bad. I never noticed. the other on the 1/2 base, however is not bent at all. I didnt think I purchased an engine with that bend, so it may have happened in shipping. So many projects on the go that sometimes I dont pay enough attention. The photographs are a little misleading however as I try to get as close as possible but this little camera has almost a fisheye lens and yes, there is tons of distortion. I will try to take better pictures in future. I will be putting these back up for best offer again. Please let me know if you need more information. Cheers, www.engineutopia.com |
