Questionable steam engine


I was looking through ebay and found this steam engine and it doesn't look like any conventional...

Default Questionable steam engine

I was looking through ebay and found this steam engine and it doesn't look like any conventional slide steam engine i've seen and im little confused on what it is

Oh, two more things, one i meant slide valve, second i emailed the guy and he said his grandfather used it for work, although he wasn't exact on what it was used for.

It looks like an unfinished model hit & miss engine. I don't know the make. If you look at the first picture through the flywheel to the other side you will see a brass bushing with nothing in the hole. I think that this would be where the shaft for the gear/cam would be mounted. Missing one governor weight , push rod , latches , gear on crank shaft ?? , carb. ?? , Muffler , and who knows what else. It's more than I can handle , even if I had the prints. Ron

and thats not to say the engine was never finished due to a mess-up in the machining or something, looks like a shelf queen to me.

Looks like possibly a F/M 'N' kit. Nice model, but you have to finish it

thanks guys i knew it didn't look like a steam engine, and it more resembled a hit n miss engine, but there was a huge amount of parts missing. It's in sacremento, and it's only 2 hours away and if I could get the engine for cheap it would be very good for parts.
