Ed, I think it has to be your internet connection. I did just a test and the average time to load a page in every kind of their stuff is between 3 and 3˝ seconds. Have to say that I have a cable connection.

Ed, has it always downloaded slow? have you gotten a new/different PC? Have you changed servers? I don't have any problem at all with ebay. Most pages downloaded slow in the past but I changed servers and have never been more pleased. Just something to consider.

Ed, sounds like you ISP is getting more customers than it can handle. Mine did that until they realized they had to expand or go out of business. They have expanded, upgraded, until now I have a very quick service. Your only choice is to give them time to see if they are interested in providing service instead of just keep taking the money from more and more customers, or find another ISP. David.

I used to have lot's of problems "> with my AOL service getting knocked off line . AOL said it was the connection , Telco said it was AOL . SO, I fixed them both . Cable sure is more reliable always there and they work with you on problems and don't point fingers, and I saved money . Paul, just having fun in NJ today .

Hi Paul, I would like to have cable internet, it's nice. But our cable out here is very unreliable, it will go out if rains, snows, gets real windy. A real pain in the middle of a Nascar race. Telephone seldom goes out. But I've seen the cable net at friends houses that live in town, and it really is quick, and frees up your telephone. David.

I have a T1 connection here at work and still have problems with Ebay loading slowly. After lunch time, you may as well forget about it. I don't have problems with this or any other site, only Ebay.

Hi Paul,

How much is your cable monthly? Is it available nation wide?So far today mine is very fast.Seems as though mine is very slow mostly on Ebay in late afternoon until after midnight.I should not be having any problems with my computer, it is a very powerful model and was checked for problems.

Tom--I have DSL and its GREAT!! -- only 1 phone line and you can use the phone while your on line! To me its about 10,000 times faster than dail-up and you dont need 2 lines anymore! --When i had dail-up it seemed to take forever to download a pic on here but now it just pops right up!

I recently switched to a cable modem, and it's worth EVERY PENNY of the $39/mo I pay. When you figure how scarce time is, and how much time you save per month, I think it's a deal...

David, your right on the money about the ISP. What you described is exactly why I changed servers 6 months ago. I don't have cable or digital but this is not bad at all. The old ISP couldn't handle the traffic volume and certain times of the day, downloading would nearly come to a standstill. The times of day were consistant on weekdays. Around 8 AM, (office computers clicking on) noon (office workers coming back from lunch) 3:00, ( rug rats getting home from school) and 8:00 (home computers being used by adults). I asked a friend employed by the old server how they were doing and he said customers are canceling service quite often. ( I think their gonna go belly up soon) What I just described seems to be reasonably consistant in these responses. As with mother nature, also applies with the ISP's... only the strongest will survive. "speed up, move over or get lost".

Ed: My Cable hook up is $29.95/ month from Cablevision. Once in awhile like on rainy days or Friday nights when I'm home it gets slowed down a bit, but that's just all the network traffic . Paul on 3rd. shift in Pa., just waiting for morning to have fun at the local flea markets on the way home, even in NJ .

I have dialup and usually connect at 45kbps and better. I have no problems with eBay. Do you surf a lot before you go to Harry's? Ever empty out your internet files, history and cache so you're not using virtual memory (slower than hell on a cold day)? Also, what browser are you using? I have noticed that Opera is a bit slower to load eBay pages than Internet Explorer 6. Craig

We recently got Road Runner thru our local cable service. Ebay downloads so fast now the only thing i have to wait for is pictures and that only takes a couple of seconds. DAN

I just checked, 3:35 PM CDST and E-bay came up in four seconds. My old modem used to connect at about 20 BPS and it was really slow and would at times disconnect but my new computer connects at 45 to 49 BPS and it has not as yet disconnected, about six months. I think your modem may make a big difference. No geek,---just how mine works.
