Ok I can't stand it any more, I tried to buy it to have with dad for the winfield show although I know it was going to take some midnight machinework. Who bought the W H Bailey model from Morisset, New South Wales, Australia auction #290329540018 on July 13th '09? I am just beside myself that I didnt bid another $500 on this jewel. Now can someone identify the manufacturer? OR is it a patent model/ salesmans display that came from the W H Bailey manufacturer? ..... still gets my heart going just looking that the pictures...... Brian
Notice the pantina on this thing, and the governor is just so exact, (friction drive, no gears) |

And the governor appears to be a working governor, notice the brake on the (missing) flywheel. Old ingravings show the exact same type of system. The water pump is missing and the displacer linkage is broke but may be there I cant tell. One screw/bolt is out of the displacer or power piston linkage. Anyway, whoever got this give us an update........ and when you get it running some YOUTUBE video!...... thanks Brian.. BTW,.... if you the purchaser decide you want out... Ill make it worth your time!

It went to a hot air collector in Germany, maybe Bahnstock or Oberschwaben.

Correction, This is possibly a Lehmann engine..... & notice that the engraving does not show CUT GOVERNOR GEARS & contains the outboard main crankshaft bearing!!!!!
http://www.eco-energie.ch/brevets/IM...AIR_ENGINE.pdf This thing looks more original all the time, although this Lehmann engraving does not show the flywheel brake attached as in the W H Bailey engraving. The governor is described as allowing the relief of the cylinder pressure for governing purposes with Lehmanns patent. Simple and effective! The patent foretells that the governor does not have patentable values so it is possible that at a later date they attached the brake system or maybe its not a brake at all?? http://www.mosi.org.uk/media/3387175...-airengine.pdf I did see the buyer was listed from germany and was fluent in german and english..and his( or her) and had a username consistant with this specific forum. I hope we hear from him and his progress with this engine. |
