Ernie,
What size is the gas tractor? There should be two numbers representing the horsepower rating stamped into the flat spot on top of the transmission housing on the opposite side from the belt pulley behind the front fuel tank mount. |

These items are located in MN, and have been under cover for forty plus years. We are liquidating the whole estate, on Nov 7th. We have just started sorting out the Items, this is collection of over sixty years, there is noting newer then 50 years. Ernie

Many local people near Le Center area should no where this stuff has been sitting for the last forty years. many people have driven by it not knowing about it. I had an idea about where this stuff was and just found out that i was right. I am very excited to go to the auction and see what this stuff brings.

The updated sale bill lists the Huber tractor as a 40-62, sold new in 1930 and delivered to Faribault Mn. in 1932.

Steam tractor went towards St Charles from what we heard. The 40-62 followed us back to Northfield. It has some absolutely amazing history behind it and supposedly had not done extended hard labor over the course of it's life. The Buick was a very nice original car, though by the time the bidding started all or maybe all but one of the door handles had been broken off of the car as most of the people there didn't respect the fact that an 80 year old car might be possibly frail. More damage had been done to the exterior and interior components of this car within the last month, then had been done in the last 79 years. I believe it's staying in the area as well. The large Montgomery Beer bottle is staying local with a respected collector. Overall, a very interesting auction.

Andy,
I didn't stay long after the tractor was sold, but sure am glad to hear that you got it and probably be shown at the Rice County Steam and Gas, at least I will be able to see it run someday. |

Dave,
thanks very much. We're hoping to make a 2010 restoration happen. I cannot wait to see it running and working. I'm trying to figure out what color they actually were painted. I've seen about 3 different color combinations for Hubers of this vintage. The traction engine supposedly came from the same family as this 40-62 back in the 1930s. |
