Need help to identify this tool.


I am trying to identify this tool. I think it has something to do with putting rims on wheels, but...

Default Need help to identify this tool.

I am trying to identify this tool. I think it has something to do with putting rims on wheels, but I am not sure. Maybe this was used in a Blacksmith's shop?? Would appreciate greatly any help.

It's a tire shrinker. Here's a link to one on Ebay.

What you have there is a tire shrinker. It's used to "upset" a portion of a steel tire, reducing it's diameter to get it to fit a wooden wheel. The two jaws grip each side of a locally heated section of the tire, and the big lever forces them together, pushing the metal into itself or "upsetting" it.
