Default Atlas Clausing rarely fails

An hour into a lathe project with a half hour to go to finish. Suddenly the carriage stops moving, though it was still engaged. Ended up stripping the carriage and removing the gear box, the culprit was a sheared key on the drive gear, looked like it had been that way for awhile and the set screw was holding the pieces together. By absolute dumb luck I had a replacement half moon shaped key and was able to put everything back together. Finished turning my part four hours after I started, but the cross slide and carriage got long overdue attention and adjustment, even better I have three more of the half moon keys that were out of scrap automotive air conditioner compressors. I love being a pack rat.

Those are woodruff keys and are a standard common item.
