How to begin?


I was given a steam roller it says old smokey on the front it is missing the top. What I need to...

Default How to begin?

I was given a steam roller it says old smokey on the front it is missing the top. What I need to know is how do i get it going I know that I need fuel tablets I found were I can ordern them but what elese do I need steam oil what is it and what is it used for and when i get the tabs and oil what do I do to make it run my uncle gave it to me he is in a nursing home with old timmers and he cant remember how to make it work it was baught in about 1968-1972 he took it to shows in ia sd ne and god nows where elese he went it has some attatchments for it to but we have not found them yet I have given him a prommise that I will take it to shows and clen it up so I now need your help

You don't need steam oil for a toy steam engine. Sewing machine/gun/light household oil will work just fine. Mostly you just need water in the boiler and light off the fuel to make it go.

Personally I don't like 3 in one oil for an applacation like that.It has a tendancy to varnish up.3 in one is good only for hinges and junk like that.Use the sewing machine oil or gun oil.
