As long as folks are knocking each other to the ground getting in here.......
![]() I wouldn't offer over a thousand for that tractor. It's been sitting for years is the main reason. You don't know about the radiator.......and the gas tank, carburetor and magneto are givens.......

I bought a 'barn fresh' running C on full steel two years ago (?, maybe 3) for $750. All the tin is in pretty decent condition.

the only problem is there are none around here... those that were are owned by a family around here that has several, so id have to drive quite a distance for one, i think i can get it for $1250... i hate to massively overpay but its either that or have to drive a couple hundred miles for another.

Do what you have to do if you want it, for what its worth if it is a 1933 it is a low production year someone had to have had money to buy it during the depression, a $1,250 value would be ok if it still has a flat belt.

SS,
Call Don Livingston for a price on a manifold. 507-433-0073. If you can get it loose, have a local shop do the valves, and put it back together yourself, then you will be just fine. If you want it, buy it. A couple thousand dollars is just pocket change nowdays, if you are happy with the purchace it will be worth it. Tony |

thanks for your input all, i picked up a spare head for it out of a salvage yard so if its in good enough shape ill probably rebuild that one, the only thing that bugs me is why its stuck, sitting stuck i can handle but rained in the pipe stuck gets to be pretty involved

Justin,
Hook a piece of cloth on the end of a piece of wire and go after top of piston through the plug hole. If the fabric comes out dry this is good news. I am assuming you need to trailer this machine home. Before you load it put a 1/4 cup of diesel fuel in each cylinder. The trailer ride home over different types of road surfaces will send all different types of vibration up through the tractor. This "road vibration" is magnafied with steel wheels and as it shakes or buzzes through the tractor little air bubbles will rise up and float away from rings as the diesel creeps in around the rings. A tractor that is not stuck very bad can be loose when you get home! If you place the tractor in high gear and leave the chains loose, starting and stoping will place a good bit of turning force against the stuck engine as the weight of tractor rocks back and forth on the trailer. This practice obviously should only be done on secluded back roads for everyones safety and law enforcement will not like loose chains on a load! Just an idea, Tony |

I knew an old tractor guy who swore by the "loose chain & road gear" method of unsticking an engine...claimed he had broken loose several that way.

![]() It can work, I got one loose on vibration & diesel alone, and I got three unstuck with the "loose chain & high gear" method over the years

The 25-50 Townsend that was purchased at the great "Oscar's Dreamland" sale was stuck when we looked it over.......it wouldn't BUDGE.
When it arrived in Wisconsin it was loose....... .......

A fellow drove about 300 miles to buy my little Allis B. We had thoroughly discussed the fact that it was stuck hard and that I had been soaking it routinely for about 3 months at the time. I sold it to him for a "stuck" price and we were both happy with the deal.
He called the next day and let me hear it running over the phone.........said that when he rolled it off the trailer, the engine was free and loose!!! ![]() Yes, it works, Bruce |

it made the trip home, its sitting in the shop with some tension on the wheels to help free it up. if you rock it back and forth the fan moves so thats a start. still havent found a good manifold for a decent price, anyone seen any d-series case tractors donating their organs in the local scrap yard?

![]() Looks pretty good. If you are not in a hurry, a D series manifold will turn up in time. All original old manifolds that are not being reproduced have been drying up and jumping in price in the last few years. you can expect to pay $200-$300 for a decent/usable C-hot manifold if you can even find one for sale ![]() I think you did just fine on the tractor though, should be a fun project! |

well for the last few days weve been rocking and jamming around on this thing trying to get it broke loose, it was only stuck on the very last cylinder after the ride home. tonight i put a pipe wrench on the crank hub/pulley on the front of the engine and put a cheater pipe on that and jammed around on it. it never budged so i pulled the head off, ratched strapped the pipe on the pipewrench to the wheel to pull tension on the crank, and bopped the #4 piston with a rubber mallot, it rolled right over... rediculous, i honestly dont see how it was stuck so hard if thats all it took. oh well at least its loose now.
