Default Single Plows

Can anyone tell me why they made Single plows that turn soil to the left and some that turn the soil to the right. I have a J.D. that turns to the right and an Oliver that turns it to the left.

The left handed plow was for the American fields, and the right handed plow for the overseas fields?
Good question, i always wondered the same thing....

i found a single plow with the word " Oragne AO8" "Blount" in raised letters on the back side of the moldboard. Is that a Brand Name?

It is also interesting to note that grain binders were - in the earlier days available both ways. then later to left hand only. The early John Deere D was left hand drive. Must have been lots of English men working at the factory then.
