You are right i aprove. That is a neat rig. It never ceases to amaze me the things that show up with le roi engines on them. If i had a better picture of the engine it would be easy to idenify the model Ed

It is a 1923 or later as they had a different float system for checking the oil level in 1922. Look on the opposite side in the area where water goes back into the block and you should find numbers that is the casting date. Ed the le roi man

Two answers here. To be original find a dixie mag. I have 2 1922s a 1923 and a 24 and they all have dixies and they will most probably have to be recharged. Second the oil level indicator is realy high tech with a cork float that floats on the oil and if the white ball is up you have oil. On the 22 there is a float that goes into the pan and there is a guage that works like one on gas tanks reading from E to F. Ed the le roi man

I dont know what model but they originally had impulse. They had a lot of pot metal in the impulse area and that is usually broken up or gone completely. Sometimes the impulse can be made to work after the pot metal is removed. Le roi manuals i have also call for eismans but after all these years anything goes. Ed the le roi man

ed---

I just salvaged a D176-3 Le Roi, s/n 217807, from a gleaner model F parts combine that has been sitting in a kans pasture for the last ~45 yrs. The date cast into the side of the engine block is 6-30-46. All is there except the starter.

What starter can be used on this engine? Also, where can I get gaskets for this engine. I will need at minimum a head gasket. I turned the engine with the crank until a piston ran into a stuck valve.

Many thanks for any help you can give me.
