Hi Ricky

Sorry to see that nobody has been able to help you so far and at the moment I'm not much use either but I will be home in a few weeks where I have my Wisconsin Manuals that can help you with your problem. If nobody has managed to get the info you need send me a PM in about 3 weeks and I'll scan all of the required pages for you and send them. Sorry I'm not of much use at the moment but I'm way up in the Canadian Arctic as in way up above the Arctic Circle finishing up work here for the year so like I said if you don't get the help you need give me a PM in a few weeks.

Cheers Al

Hi Ricky ,
I don't have a manual but this is how I did mine after a fair bit of googling.

On my one the FM mag rotates at crank speed and fires on the power stroke as well as the exhaust .(check if yours does too first )

Remove the round mesh guard from the front fan intake.
There should be a previously hidden line-indentation on the cooling shroud that lines up with the centre of the left cylinder bank.
On one of the cooling fan fins there will be an X
Rotate the engine so the X lines up with the indentation on the shroud.
(don't use the fins to turn the engine)

Go around to the mag and take out the screw-in plug from the timing gear housing .
There should be an X visible on the mag gear inside.
If not ....er

But if this is the case take the mag out and just make sure these positions are aligned during reassembly.(and of course mark the plug lead positions)

The mag gear can take a little jiggling to get back in right.

The exhaust note of these old girls is fantastic.
Let us know how you got on..........Pics???

cheers
Keith
